Nicholas has been working in the substance use and behavioral health field since 2016 and currently is an outpatient counselor at Progress Valley. He has an associate’s degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Metropolitan State University. He is also a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). In his role, he provides a comprehensive range of clinical services, including assessments, case management, education relapse prevention, and referrals to additional services as needed. Nicholas has experience working with individuals involved in the legal system, incarcerated clients, and adolescents in treatment settings. He uses a client-centered approach that is individualized to meet the unique needs of each person. He integrates evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, to help clients address the underlying emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors contributing to substance use. Nicholas is committed to empowering individuals, meeting them where they are in their recovery journey, and focusing on their strengths to support and facilitate their progress toward lasting recovery.
